Dr. Volker Praetz
Born in 1953, Volker Paetz gained his doctorate (Dr.-Ing.) in 1986 in the Mechanical Engineering faculty at the University of Dortmund.
He completed a compact course in business economics after starting work.
Dr. Paetz began his career as a member of the research staff at the University of Dortmund.
He was a joint founder of the Fraunhofer Institute for Transport Technology and Goods Distribution (ITW) in 1982. In 1986 he joined Hoesch Stahl AG.
In 1992, Dr. Paetz joined Ravensburger AG as head of logistics and was appointed to the Management Board of the subsidiary FX Schmidt, Prien, in 1996. In March 2000 he became Senior Vice President and member of the Management Board of Gardena AG, Ulm.
On December 01, 2004, Dr. Paetz joined the ThyssenKrupp Group as member of the Management Board of ThyssenKrupp Schulte GmbH.
Since June 01, 2005, he has been a member of the Management Board of what is now ThyssenKrupp MetalServ GmbH.
Since October 2009, Dr. Paetz has been Chairman of the Management Board of ThyssenKrupp MetalServ GmbH.
He is also responsible for the logistics and technology directorate at ThyssenKrupp Materials International GmbH, the lead company of the Materials Services business area.
Achim Boner
Born in 1962, Achim Boner completed an apprenticeship as a bank clerk (Deutsche Bank AG, Düsseldorf) before studying economics and business administration in Constance, St. Gallen (Switzerland), Stockholm (Sweden) and Cologne, gaining his degree ("Diplom Kaufmann") from the University of Cologne in 1989.
He began his career in the international controlling department at Mannesmann Handel AG, Düsseldorf. Following positions in Sydney (Australia) and then in the M&A department in Düsseldorf, he joined Mannesmann Handel S.E. Asia Pte. in Singapore in 1996 as Managing Director, also assuming some corporate responsibilities for Mannesmann AG.
He has been working in what is now the ThyssenKrupp Materials Services organization since 1999. After his return from Asia in 2005, Mr. Boner became deputy head of the tubes/pipes trading department, primarily responsible for tubes/pipes product management. Since October 2009, he has been member of the Management Board of ThyssenKrupp MetalServ GmbH responsible for the LC tubes/pipes, Stahlkontor Hahn and "Das Armaturenzentrum" (valve center).
He is also head of tubes/pipes product management at ThyssenKrupp Materials International GmbH, the lead company of the Materials Services business area.
Marcus Wöhl
Born in 1963, Marcus Wöhl graduated from the Technical University of Hanover in 1990 with a degree in economics.
He began his career as a Management Consultant at KPMG Peat Marwick in Düsseldorf from 1990 – 1993.
In 1994, he joined Raab Karcher in Frankfurt as Marketing Manager, combining this role with responsibility for corporate development.
In 1999, Mr. Wöhl became head of sales management at ISPO GmbH, a subsidiary of Dyckerhoff AG, Wiesbaden.
He also held further management positions in marketing and sales at the parent company of the group until 2005.
In March 2005, he joined the former ThyssenKrupp Materials GmbH as Marketing Director.
In March 2007, he was appointed Managing Director of ThyssenKrupp Schulte GmbH.
In October 2008, he was appointed General Manager of the Dortmund facility responsible for stainless steel product management, central warehouse and stainless steel service center management.
In his new role as Managing Director of ThyssenKrupp MetalServ GmbH, Mr. Wöhl has also been responsible for the activities of the Wörth metal center since October 2009.
